Wonderfully deep, rich, and earthy, our Organic Pu-erh Tea, with a most unique style and flavor, is made from organic-degree tea leaves of ancient tea trees from the Jing Mai Mangjing region of China's southwest Yunnan province which is the home of Pu-erh teas. Certified organic, every batch is carefully hand inspected to ensure goodness and purity. Some scientific studies have suggested the possibility that Pu-Erh tea reduces cholesterol and blood fats.
Puerh begins life as a sun-dried green tea, known as maocha in Mandarin. This tea is piled, dampened, and covered, which allows the natural blend of bacteria and yeast to begin fermenting or composting the tea leaves. The leaf piles are turned regularly to
maintain even fermentation. Eventually, a dark brown leaf is produced - a leaf which, if left in hot water for several minutes,brews up as dark as coffee.
As with all pu-erhs, our organic pu-erh teas retain a trace amount of moisture in the final tea leaves and are allowed to be aged in a controlled environment. The older the pu-erh, the more valuable it becomes and the mellower its flavor.
When brewed, our Organic Pu-Erh tea has a dark reddish color with a strong, full and earthy taste. Robust and surprisingly tasty with milk, it is distinctly earthy with an unmistakable aged flavor. The tea features a robust, bold and earthy flavor profile that is satisfying and can be consumed as an alternative to coffee.
